Lone Tree Hill
Amesbury, MA
c1949-?

Amesbury, Massachusetts is actually a closed ski area mecca, with three areas operating at one point. These areas include Lone Tree Hill, Locke's/Amesbury Tow/Atlantic Forests, as well as Goulds/Amesbury Tow/Tempo G.

Lone Tree Hill was a very brief area that operated just south of Amesbury. According to the World Ski Book, and a 1949 Massachusetts ski guide, the area had a large open slope and a 1000' tow. All levels of skiing were provided. The area was located on "Route 10", but I believe they meant off of Rte 110, which is just north of the hill. The vertical was about 150'.

However, these are the only two listings for the area, so I am led to believe that this  ski area was very brief.

In the 1990's and early 2000's, Lone Tree Hill was the site of the Amesbury Sports Park. This was sold to the New England Soccer School which still operates the snowtubing, along with expanded soccer fields.

To the left is a view of the park, looking south up the north face of the hill. It is unknown where exactly on the hill the ski area operated - it is possible that it did operate in the exact same spot as the tubing park. Click on the image on the left for a larger version.

If you remember this area, just let us know.
