According to the 1949 Massachusetts Ski Guide, there was a 50 acre ski development with slopes and trails served by a 1000' tow in Williamsburg on Petticoat Hill. Trails ranged from novice to expert. To get to the area, one would take a bus from Northampton for eight miles, or drive to the area via Chesterfield Road 2.5 miles beyond town. There was also a snack bar at the ski house. It appears the area was run by a Frank Vayda.
