Kimball's Hill

Kennebunk, ME

Early 1960's

Thanks to Gail Peble, we now know of this unlikely area in Kennebunkport. Here are her details:

Kimball's Hill was located in Kennebunk, on the Cat Mousam Road.  I am 46 and can remember my parents taking me there on a Sunday afternoon when I was very small.  The had a rope tow run by an old car engine and local people were welcome to ski and toboggan, down to the edge of the Mousam River.  I don't believe there was any charge.  When I was in high school, the rope tow was long defunct, but we used to set gates there and practice for the ski team; and we also held our winter carnival activities there.  Now it is a small housing development but I think the daughter of the original owner still lives in the farmhouse on the property.

If you remember this area and have more info, just let us know.
