Mt. Moosilauke
Warren, NH

1930's

For this ski area, we'll let some NELSAP readers explain it:

One ski area that you might want to add is Mount Moosilauke in Warren, NH.  The mountain has long drawn skiers (take a look at this page for a wonderful picture of some skiing there in the late 1920's: http://mtmoosilauke.com/aerialtram.html), and Dartmouth College built a lodge there (the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge) with the intent of developing a ski area.   I am not sure if lifts were installed, though it was definitely a destination for skiers in the 1920's and 1930's.  Dartmouth College used to run ski races on the Carriage Road that runs to the summit.  If you are interested in more information on the sk i area, you might want to try contacting the people who put up mtmoosilauke.com.  The man behind that page is a Dartmouth alum who has a tremendous knowledge of the history of Mount Moosilauke.

One major lost ski area in New Hampshire that isn't on your page it Mount Moosilauke in Benton, Warren, and North Woodstock, NH.  I believe that most of the skiing took place within the borders of Warren, but the mountain itself is quite large.  If you are interested, I can try to track down key dates with regards to skiing on Moosilauke.  The mountain has been hiked by skiers for many year (as it still is skied by some), and I believe that there was a lift or two at one point.  There is a base lodge that was built for skiing and is now used by hikers in the summer (and is boarded up in the winter).  There was once a proposal to install an aerial tramway on Moosilauke.  Here are a couple of places where one can find information on the mountain:
