Bellows Falls Village Area
Rockingham Recreation
Bellows Falls, VT
Before 1970-1992, 1994-1998, 2000-Present

Thanks to new information, this area is taken off the lost vist but put on the found list!

The Bellows Falls Village area was a small, community-type ski area that operated in Bellows Falls. According to the VT Tramway reoprts, this area opened before 1970 with a 950' rope tow. For the 1986-1987 season, the area became known as Rockingham Recreation, then back to Village area in 1988, then back to Rockingham in 1990. then closed briefly in 1992. In 1993 the area reopened, until 1998, then reopened for the 2000 season! Confusing isn't it!

Thanks to Norman MacLeod for telling us a little more about this area:

"The Bellows Falls Village Ski Area was located in the town of Bellows Fall itself, near the Little League ball fields and the swimming pool. That was operating when I was a kid in the area, although I never did go skiing there, being too much into the alpine racing scene and not normally getting home early enough."

Here's the Terraserver overhead pic (found by Betsy McDonough). As you can see, the was one main slope that had a 950' tow, along with a side trail near the top. A jump or practice slope area existed the the left of this. The vertical is just under 200'.

Warren Chivers from Vermont Academy recently informed NELSAP that the area operated during the 1999/2000 season.

Betsy McDonough and I took pictures of this area on April 29...they will come online soon.
