From the Skier's Guide to New England, these two rope tow areas were located on McFarland's Hill.  There were several trails and a 200 foot vertical drop, located on Mt. Desert Island.  This area operated as late as 1971!  Anybody remember seeing these?

BHOC Ski tow: 800 feet.

In 1949, a 1330 foot rope tow operated on McFarland's hill. The West Side trail, Stemwinder trail, and the Loop trail provided skiing for novices.
