Shu-Maker Mountain
Little Falls, NY
1972-c1999

Shu-Maker has to be one of the most inquired about lost ski areas in New York State. Overlooking the NY State Thruway between exits 29A and 30, all travelers heading to western New York can spot this easily identifiable lost ski area in Little Falls.

At its peak, this lost area had two Hall Double Chairs (3800' and 3000'), a shorter T-bar (1200') area, and a beginner rope tow. The vertical drop was a respectable 750'. 22 trails were available. Click on the trail map from 1994-1995 on the right for a larger version.

The main double chair is shown on the left, from a 1994-1995 brochure. The steep slope underneath the chair was called Hi-Top, and fed into Lo-Top lower down.

The area closed around 1999.
